JD Wetherspoons to invest £9m in four new hotels

Low-price pub chain JD Wetherspoons has announced it is investing £9m to open four new hotels over the next 10 weeks.

Taking its portfolio of hotels to 40, the four sites will open at Camborne on July 7, Tavistock on July 21, Worcester on August 18 and Barrow on September 1.

Offering a combined 127 bedrooms, the new hotels will take the total number of bedrooms in the company’s portfolio to more than 1,000.

The hotel at Tavistock will feature 12 rooms as part of a new pub development. Meanwhile, the other three hotels are opening at existing pubs, Camborne will have 37 bedrooms, Tavistock will have 12 bedrooms, Worcester 36 bedrooms and Barrow will have 42 bedrooms.

Tim Martin, chairman of the company, said: “Our hotels continue to prove popular and we are confident that the four new hotels will be a great asset to their respective pubs and towns in which they are located.

“Our hotels offer excellent accommodation and facilities and have the great advantage for the traveller of being located alongside our pubs.”
