The Institute of Hospitality (IoH) recently conducted a wellness survey of hospitality management professionals to discover some surprisingly mixed results.
Seven out of 10 managers said they exercised at least once a week, with 11 per cent of those surveyed exercising on a daily basis. Nine out of 10 managers are non-smokers and over three-quarters said they drink 10 or fewer alcoholic drinks a week.
On a less positive note, more than one-third said they often feel stressed at work and over half said they only sleep for five or six hours a night.
Commenting on the results, IoH chief executive Peter Ducker FIH said: “Being a manager in a dynamic and growing industry such as hospitality takes stamina. By making sensible lifestyle choices there is no reason why we cannot enjoy long, successful and healthy working lives. Paying attention to our own health and well-being makes a lot of sense.”
