Macdonald Aviemore Resort reports Covid-19 breakout

The Macdonald Aviemore Resort has reported a series of Covid-19 cases, according to the BBC.

The BBC said that a group of Christmas entertainers who stayed at the hotel were related to the outburst.

NHS Highland has now reportedly written to guests and staff who were at the hotel this week advising them to get tested if they present symptoms.

Highland Council told the BBC they were contacting people as a “precautionary measure” and that NHS Highland had already contacted individuals who were in close contact with the entertainers, advising them to self-isolate.

Dr Tim Allison, director of public health, told the BBC: “We appreciate that this will be causing anxiety within the residents of the resort, staff and wider community and we are working closely with Highland Council’s environmental health team and the resort management to provide advice and guidance to residents, staff and their families.

“At this time, we have no evidence of wider community spread.”

Bill Lobban, Highland Council’s convener, told the BBC he understood why people would be “very concerned” about the cases in Aviemore adding that anyone who has been to the activities at the hotel, should be “extra cautious” and to be aware of the symptoms of Covid-19.

He said: “We really must stay safe and look after each other during these difficult times.”
