Gisborough Hall adds new AA-rosette chef and operations officer

Gisborough Hall has appointed two key members of staff as it continues with its recruitment drive a year on from becoming a fully independent, family-run hotel.

Chef Karl Rochford joins the 4-star star hotel, bringing more than 20 years’ hospitality experience with him. He has worked at a number of popular restaurants around the North East and Yorkshire, most recently as the head chef at Solberge Hall in Northallerton and was part of the team to achieve two AA rosettes.

Rochford will be responsible for running Gisborough Hall’s two-AA rosette Chaloner’s Restaurant as well as the more informal G Bar and Bistro.

Rochford said: “Gisborough Hall has a great reputation for its food, illustrated by the 2-AA Rosettes. I plan to add a range of new dishes and dining experiences in the coming months and build on what is already on offer, with the emphasis always on high quality, simple dishes using local produce.”

In addition, Amy Baker has been recruited as Gisborough Hall’s new operations manager  responsible for the day-to-day running of the hotel, including managing the bars and restaurants and the reception and housekeeping teams.

Baker has over 15 years’ experience working at a number of four and five-star hotels around the country including the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey near Skipton, the Royal Crescent in Bath and the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle.

Baker said: “Gisborough Hall has a wonderful family atmosphere and has always been a place I have loved visiting. I have worked around the country and some well-known places but Gisborough really does stand out in the crowd.

“I am really excited about taking the team forward into a new era, with the opening of the new spa in the next year, as well as building on all of the recent successes too.”

Gisborough Hall became a fully-independent and self-managed hotel in April 2017 and employs over 100 local people across the hotel, in its restaurants, bars and Revival Zone Spa. This number is set to increase further in the coming year with the creation of a new multi-million-pound spa set to open by Christmas 2019.
