The Lion Hotel brought to market for £950,000

Its current owners have taken the decision to retire

The Lion Hotel, a 15th Century hotel and restaurant located in Buckden, Cambridgeshire has been brought to the market with a guide price of £950,000 for the freehold interest.

The Grade II-listed high street property has been put up for sale by Christopher and Suzanne Hudson, who took ownership of the business in 2016.

Comprising 10 en-suite bed and breakfast rooms across the ground and first floor, the hotel also includes a lounge, bar, restaurant, and external eating areas.

Moreover, the second floor of the property includes two recently refurbished owners’ apartments.

Tim Gooding, director of hospitality and Christie and Co, who has been instructed to carry out the deal, said: “Given the affluent location, the excellent condition and the prominent siting of the property, we are anticipating a good level of demand.

“Cambridgeshire is always popular for buyers in view of the importance of Cambridge, Huntingdon and other growing towns in the region and we foresee ongoing positive trading at The Lion, as soon as the business reopens, which is expected to be during the course of this year.”

The Hudson’s confirmed that while they have “thoroughly enjoyed” the five-year stint in charge of The Lion Hotel, they have decided “the time is right” to enter retirement.
