A further £150m support package has also been put in place, subject to a 12 March review

He added: “The focus of this latest £30m round of funding is to target further support at the small, medium and large businesses in these sectors with the specific aim of protecting as many jobs as possible.”

An additional £150m will also be made available in grants to Welsh firms, subject to the outcome of a 12 March review regarding the lifting of restrictions.

The extra funding would be extended to support all “businesses paying non-domestic rates,” in turn impacting even “micro businesses”.

Rebecca Evans, Welsh minister for finance, acknowledged the “disproportionate” impact the pandemic has had on those within the sectors.

She claimed that the £30m support package “responds to the latest phase of the pandemic and signifies our continued commitment to the sector”.

Kate Nicholls, chief executive at UKHospitality welcomed the “vital” grants that have been provided by the Welsh Government.

She said: “Welsh Government has again listened directly to our constructive proposals for more vital support and the new money will play a leading part in continuing to save local jobs and local businesses until March 31 in communities right across Wales while lockdown persists.”
