Hilton London Heathrow Airport staff help with vaccination roll out

The team members from the hotel will be using their hospitality skills to ‘welcome and guide arrivals at the centre’ as well as helping to verify appointments and provide ‘general support where required’

Staff at Hilton London Heathrow Airport have begun volunteering at the new Compass Centre Mass Vaccination Centre, which has opened at Heathrow Airport.

The centre was created to distribute vaccinations against the Covid-19 virus, with the centre currently focussing on the “latest priority groups” – people aged 56 and over and people with long term health conditions.

The team members from the hotel will be using their hospitality skills to “welcome and guide arrivals at the centre”,as well as helping to verify appointments and provide “general support where required”.

Oliver Stockland, general manager at the hotel, said that being able to “help with the local vaccination programme” is not only a way that they can support the community but also means the team can play a part in “helping lives hopefully get back to normal”.

He said: “The hospitality industry has been faced with some huge challenges during the pandemic and of course we all want to be able to open again and welcome back guests.

“Because we all work in hospitality, it’s part of our DNA to help people and be welcoming and friendly, as we as assisting in whatever way we can. We’re glad that we’re able to help to make sure the vaccination process runs as smoothly as possible.”
