Operator acquires The Manor Hotel in Exmouth

The property is said to present a unique opportunity for investors wanting to benefit from the recent renovations and the thousands of tourists who visit Exmouth annually

The Manor Hotel in Exmouth has been sold to new operator, Sam Surani, for an undisclosed sum.

The Manor Hotel is a Grade-II listed terrace property which has undergone extensive renovation works over the last three years to convert it from a hotel specialising in coach group holidays into a hotel catering exclusively for private leisure and business guests.

The hotel is thought to have been constructed in the late 1700’s, making it one of the oldest surviving buildings on The Beacon in Exmouth. The 28-bedroom, family-run property is also located in a prime elevated position overlooking Exmouth, just 200 metres from the beach.

The property is said to present a unique opportunity for investors wanting to benefit from the recent renovations and the thousands of tourists who visit Exmouth annually.

Surani said: “We are excited to take over The Manor Hotel in Exmouth and add value to the great historical building by providing an excellent guest experience. I would like to thank Stephen Champion for providing support and guidance throughout the process.”

Stephen Champion, director in Christie and Co’s South-West hotels team, who co-led the sale with Savills, said: “The previous owners purchased the Manor Hotel in 2017 and have since carried out an extensive refurbishment of the rooms and guest facilities.

“The new owner identified the upside in a business that has had considerable investment and was quick to secure the opportunity. We wish Sam Surani every success with his new business venture.”

He added: “Buyer demand for quality hotels continues to stay high, with buyers identifying the South West tourism industry as a safe, long-term investment, with many businesses offering considerable opportunity for further growth.”
