Bespoke’s Lugger Hotel awarded five-star AA rating

Portloe’s Lugger Hotel has been awarded a five-star rating by the AA, alongside two AA rosettes, following a recent inspection.

The hotel owned by Bespoke Hotels was described by the AA as combining “a well-managed establishment, a focused team, and a delightful environment”.

The Lugger’s culinary offering was singled out for particular praise, both for its cookery and quality of ingredients. The award marks The Lugger as Cornwall’s only five star-rated inn, further cementing its reputation as a leading establishment in the region.

Inspectors from the AA awarded a five-star rating indicating a score of 85% or above across its services, accommodation, as well as cleanliness and food. Bespoke said the accommodation was praised for its “presentational standards” and “well-coordinated” furnishings.

General manager Anne MacDonald said: “We are thrilled to have received such a glowing report from the AA following their recent visit and inspection. We have enjoyed a strong period of trading across recent months, with the team working superbly to ensure all our guests receive true Cornish hospitality and a memorable experience in Portloe.”

Graham Marskell, managing director of operations for Bespoke Hotels, added: “Anne and the team have worked extremely hard to not only maintain the high standards set by The Lugger in recent years, but to surpass them.

“Since arriving in Cornwall last year, Anne has both inspired her staff and delighted her guests in equal measure, and it’s extremely satisfying to see the hotel’s high standards of service recognised by the AA.”
