Doyle Hotels reported substantial financial growth in 2022, with a turnover of €147.7m (£127.8m), nearly tripling the previous year’s total of €53.2m (£46m). The hotel group also achieved a pre-tax profit of almost €28m (£24m), up from €8m (£6.9m)the year before. Improved turnover was attributed to the removal of Covid-19 restrictions in early 2022. Notably, Irish revenues reached €59.7m (£51.6m)in 2022, up from €21.4m (£18.5m) in the prior year, while UK hotels generated €65.9m (£57m) in income compared to €26.4m (£22.8m) in 2021. The group plans to continue investing in its hotels to maintain its market position as an international luxury group.
Cedar Court Hotel Bradford, part of the Cedar Court Hotels group, has reopened after a £1m refurbishment. The extensive six-month project included upgrades to bedrooms, lounge and bar areas, meeting rooms, and the addition of a ground floor coworking space and restaurant. Sustainability and celebrating the city’s industrial heritage were central to the renovations, with the installation of solar panels to reduce costs and minimise the hotel’s environmental footprint. Wayne Topley, the managing director, emphasised the hotel’s role as a business and community hub in the region and its importance in bringing people together.
Beaverbrook is set to open Mickleham Village in December 2023, featuring 21 guest rooms across 10 cottages, a new restaurant, and an events space. Guests can choose from classic or deluxe rooms, studio suites, and suites, with luxury suites named after historical literary and artistic figures. The restaurant, named Mrs. Beeton’s, follows a British theme, and The Writer’s Block is the event space accommodating up to 22 people for tailored events.
1 Hotel Mayfair, the UK flagship of the nature-inspired, mission-driven hotel brand 1 Hotels, has officially opened in central London. The hotel emphasises sustainability, with features such as vertical landscapes, sustainable design, farm-to-table dining, and nature-inspired immersive experiences. The decision to renovate existing Mayfair buildings instead of constructing from scratch helped the project meet BREEAM Excellent standards and reduce carbon footprint. The hotel offers 181 rooms, including 44 stunning suites with Green Park or city skyline views. It aims to provide guests with a blend of luxury, culture, and sustainability in a relaxed and refined atmosphere, promoting a holistic focus on health and wellness.
