The UK Hospitality (UKH) has urged the government to enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global tourism market by reducing VAT for hospitality, tourism, and leisure. Despite a 112% year-on-year increase in visits generating £30bn, the figures still lag behind 2019 levels by 9%. UKH emphasises the need for measures to make the UK more appealing to foreign visitors and suggests that cutting VAT is a crucial step to stimulate demand and revive the sector.

Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa, located in Warwickshire, is committed to enhancing sustainability in the hospitality sector. The historic hotel is implementing eco-friendly practices, including vegetarian/vegan dining options, a kitchen garden, EV charging points, and digitising processes to reduce paper consumption. The hotel aims to set new standards for environmentally friendly initiatives, undertaking a comprehensive water audit, replacing equipment with energy-efficient models, and offering ‘Green Meetings’ for environmentally responsible events.

Choice Hotels EMEA has signed a new distribution agreement with Spanish hotel chain Sercotel, extending their collaboration since 2018. The partnership aims to showcase their joint portfolio to corporate clients across the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, with a focus on the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. Both companies are set to undertake commercial and marketing activities to drive incremental revenue and expand their joint presence across the EMEA region.

Bluestone National Park Resort has introduced four adapted lodges as part of its Platinum range, designed to provide additional assistance and space. These lodges feature sunrooms, ‘cwtch’ rooms, and enhanced accessibility features such as wider doorways, a wet-room, handrails, and designated parking for Blue Badge holders. The resort is dedicated to inclusivity, with nature trails, accessible playgrounds, and arrangements for guests with sensory needs. The founder emphasises their commitment to ensuring all visitors have an unforgettable experience and encourages guests to discuss specific requirements in advance.
