Today’s news in brief – 27/11/23
PPHE Hotel Group has received planning consent from Westminster City Council to convert 6,500 square metres of subterranean space within Park Plaza Victoria London into a new 179-room hotel. This strategic move taps into a growing market segment, allowing the group to operate a dual-branded hotel with Upper Upscale Park Plaza Victoria London and a Midscale Lifestyle product. Utilising existing structures is expected to significantly increase asset valuation and yield, aligning with the group’s approach to long-term shareholder value.
Whitbread has announced that Premier Inn will operate a new hotel at Leeds Kirkgate Market, pending council approval. The proposed hotel, part of a Grade I-listed market building, will have 143 rooms, a bar, restaurant, and commercial units. The development is set to create around 50 new jobs locally and support approximately 80 jobs during construction. Whitbread’s partnership with Leeds City Council aims to enhance the area’s regeneration, providing a connection between the market and Victoria Gate.
The Kings Arms, Dalbeattie, a four-bedroom boutique hotel, is on the market for £525,000. Located on the South West 300 Route, the hotel includes a restaurant bar, an outside terrace, and a large outhouse suitable for development, potentially as a microbrewery. With a well-appointed commercial kitchen and unique ensuite bedrooms, the property is already profitable and offers growth potential through business expansion and development, according to Martin Sutherland of Graham and Sibbald, the agent handling the sale.
