Cliffemount Hotel in Runswick Bay has secured planning permission from North Yorkshire Council’s Planning Authority to transform into the UK’s inaugural Passivhaus hotel, prioritising sustainability in its design. Owned by Karen Fojt and family since 2022, the vision for the 20-bedroom hotel includes a restaurant, pub, and bar. The family aims to minimise environmental impact and is optimistic about receiving accreditation, with plans to open in summer 2025. The project has garnered support for enhancing local tourism and aligning with the ‘Passivhaus’ concept, emphasising sustainability.

MGallery UK has named Anthony Wright as the new executive head chef at The Municipal Hotel Liverpool – MGallery.
