IHG Hotels and Resorts has achieved nine signings across five brands in the UK and Ireland, adding over 1,000 rooms to its portfolio. The new hotels include the first Voco Hotel in Belfast, a Hotel Indigo property in Gloucester, and three Holiday Inn properties in Wrexham, Reading, and Bournemouth. The expansion marks a significant increase in IHG’s presence in the region, with a total of more than 350 open hotels. Meldrum House Country Hotel in Aberdeenshire has acquired ‘The Reach,’ a rare 81-year-old single malt by The Macallan. Distilled in 1940 during World War II, this special dram was showcased in the hotel’s 800-year-old Cave Bar, making Meldrum House one of only two luxury Scottish hotels to possess this historic bottle. ‘The Reach’ will be presented in a mouth-blown decanter, featuring a bronze sculpture by Saskia Robinson. The Cave Bar, already housing over 120 rare and independent whiskies, adds this legendary Macallan expression to its impressive collection. Managing director Jordan Charles expresses pride in displaying one of the oldest Macallan expressions in the hotel’s history.
