Private equity firm Aermont, which owns Pinewood Studios, is reportedly bidding to acquire UK mid-market hotel chain Village Hotels from KSL Capital Partners. The auction, facilitated by Morgan Stanley, attracted other bidders including Blackstone. Village Hotels, founded in 1995, operates over 30 properties across the UK and was previously acquired by KSL for £485m in 2014.

Robinsons Brewery has announced the completion of a refurbishment project at the Square and Compass, a pub with rooms in Matlock. Under new business partners Suzanne and Alan, the pub’s guest bedrooms received a makeover inspired by nature, featuring tree-themed aesthetics. Upgrades include a family room and dog-friendly options, maintaining the property’s Grade II listed status while enhancing comfort and functionality.

Buxton Crescent has appointed Deirdre Billing as its new general manager. With experience in hospitality management, including leading the opening of Liverpool’s first five-star hotel, Billing will oversee operations at the 81-bedroom Buxton Crescent hotel and spa, as well as The Old Hall Hotel. She aims to enhance guest experiences and develop all areas of the hotel, spa, and F&B offerings.

Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh, managed by Valor Hospitality, has introduced its new restaurant and bar concept, 1802 Lounge and Grill, named after the hotel’s founding year. Emphasising Scottish cuisine, the menu features locally sourced ingredients from Scottish suppliers. The restaurant aims to be a destination for guests and locals, showcasing Scottish culture through its culinary offerings.
