The Cumberland Building Society has refinanced Grange Manor, a luxury boutique B&B in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, with a £1m deal following a £750k redevelopment by Red Door Escapes. The upgrades include hot tubs and private gardens for five of the eight rooms. The 200-year-old property is set in two and a half acres of gardens, attracting nature lovers with its serene environment and diverse bird species, which have inspired the names of the guest rooms. The redevelopment also includes new staff accommodations and additional garden rooms. Margaret Denby, co-owner, highlights the B&B’s tranquil setting as an ideal rural escape. Cumberland Building Society supports the project, noting the Denbys’ respected standing in the hospitality industry.
Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay, Cornwall, has submitted a planning application to develop twelve new beach lofts and convert the old Tregurrian Hotel site into a five- or six-storey building with holiday apartments, a gym, studio, treatment rooms, a restaurant, and a wellbeing area. The revised plan addresses ecological, flood management, and pedestrian safety concerns raised previously. Will Ashworth, the hotel’s founder, emphasises the development’s aim to ensure the sustainability and accessibility of Watergate Bay, enhancing the area’s enjoyment while minimising environmental impact. The project signifies a commitment to protecting and future-proofing the bay while meeting community needs.
Schloss Roxburghe, a historic manor in the Scottish Borders, has expanded its offerings with a new kids’ club, farm shop, and 39 self-catering cottages within its 300-acre grounds. Part of the Destination by Hyatt collection, the manor recently added the Estate House with 58 rooms and suites, the 1100 sqm Schloss Spa, and Charlie’s restaurant. The Kio Kids’ Club, based on a bespoke children’s book, offers indoor and outdoor activities focused on sustainability and environmental awareness.
