Edition Hotels has appointed George Fleck as senior vice president and global brand leader. With over 20 years at Marriott International, Fleck will guide Edition’s growth, overseeing design, marketing, hotel openings, and cultural evolution. He also leads W Hotels, focusing on global design and cultural transformation. Previously, he revitalised St. Regis Hotels, enhancing guest experiences across 50+ properties. Tina Edmundson, president of luxury at Marriott, praises Fleck’s leadership, highlighting his ability to create unforgettable guest experiences. Fleck is eager to elevate Edition’s modern luxury brand globally.
Radisson Hotel Group reported over 130 new signings and openings in the first half of 2024. The Radisson RED brand expanded into new markets like Ireland and China, with nearly 90 hotels globally. Significant growth occurred in the EMEA region, including the first Radisson Collection in Paris and new properties in Rome and Riyadh. The group also expanded the Radisson Blu and Radisson Individuals brands, with notable openings in the UK. Elie Younes, EVP and global chief development officer, attributed the success to strong partnerships and market relevance.
Pandox acquired three Residence Inn by Marriott aparthotels in central London for £230m. The properties, located in Kensington, London Bridge, and Tower Bridge, total 503 rooms and are operated by Axiom Hospitality. These aparthotels, renovated before the pandemic, align with Marriott’s brand standards and feature kitchens or kitchenettes in all rooms. Pandox expects annual revenues of £34m from the acquisition, which enhances their portfolio and strengthens their partnership with Axiom Hospitality. CEO Liia Nõu emphasised the strategic value of increasing exposure to the extended-stay segment in prime London locations.
