Knipoch House Hotel in North-West Scotland has partnered with Glencruitten Golf Club to target the international golf market. The golf club, a short drive from the hotel, features an 18-hole course designed by James Braid, where PGA Tour winner Robert MacIntyre once trained. MacIntyre’s recent victories, including the Genesis Scottish Open, have elevated Oban’s golfing reputation. Knipoch House, now part of the Sonas Collection after significant investment, offers guests a luxurious retreat after a day of golfing, with local cuisine, a lounge, and hot tub facilities. The hotel’s general manager, Andreas Maszczyk, emphasised the collaboration as a way to provide guests access to scenic courses and enhance their golfing experience. The hotel also sponsors the 12th hole at Glencruitten, known for its challenging 433-yard run.
Providence Hotels has acquired the lease for Mary Mount Hotel, a historic property in the Lake District, expanding its UK portfolio. The hotel, located by Derwentwater, was first acquired by the Mawdsley family in 1993 and has grown from a 14-room property into a well-established hotel offering single, double, and family rooms, including dog-friendly options. Sybrand Engelbrecht, Providence’s Business Development Director, praised the family’s dedication to maintaining the hotel’s quality and highlighted the alignment with Providence’s strategic vision. He emphasised the company’s focus on sustainable growth and long-term value, noting their excitement to enhance the guest experience while preserving the hotel’s charm and unique atmosphere.
Staverton Park Hotel and Golf Club, a 247-bedroom resort, has been put on the market by Christie and Co. The property includes a PGA Championship-level golf course, a driving range, conference facilities, a restaurant, and extensive health amenities. Jeremy Jones, Christie’s head of brokerage, called it a prime investment opportunity with potential for operational and branding enhancements, likely to appeal to both domestic and international investors.
The Greenway Hotel and Spa in Gloucestershire has appointed Luke Millikin as general manager following a £1.4m refurbishment. With 24 years of experience, Millikin hopes to inspire the next generation of hospitality workers. He reminisced about his early passion for the industry, developed during his childhood in Doha.
