Murrayshall Country Estate, a luxury hotel and golf resort in Perthshire, has seen a 16% rise in golf club membership and an increase in rounds played. The estate, set across 365 acres, includes two parkland golf courses and 40 bedrooms. Recent upgrades have focused on modernising the championship course with a £1m investment, which improved drainage, revamped bunkers, and extended the playing season. Both the golf course manager, Darrin Urquhart, and general manager, Gary Silcock, highlighted the estate’s enhanced facilities and commitment to quality, contributing to its growing popularity among golfers.
The Pilgrm hotel in Paddington has introduced food and wine writer Fiona Beckett as its wine writer in residence. Beckett, a renowned author and The Guardian’s wine columnist, will curate the hotel’s wine programme, selecting special bottles and hosting a series of events. The first event, “How to Taste Wine,” will be held in October 2024, with more events planned for early 2025. Beckett expressed her excitement at the opportunity to work with The Pilgrm, praising its individuality and charm, and aiming to make wine more approachable for guests.
Hotel Amano Covent Garden has launched Amano Rooftop Bar, an Italian-inspired venue in partnership with Campari. The rooftop bar, located on the seventh floor, offers a menu of Campari-inspired cocktails and tapas, including Negroni variations and non-alcoholic options like the Crodino Spritz. The space combines a stylish indoor lounge with a sleek outdoor terrace, featuring contemporary furnishings and red hues. Amano, a Berlin-based hotel group, opened the Covent Garden location in 2022, marking its expansion beyond Germany.
The Bridge End in Llangollen has reopened following an extensive renovation. Owned by Robinsons Brewery and managed by Country Village Inns, the pub and hotel now features a new layout, an improved function room, and eight dog-friendly bedrooms. This is the fifth pub partnership between the two companies, and Country Village Inns’ first in North Wales. Managing director Mat Cooper shared his personal connection to the region, stating the goal is to reinvigorate the pub and integrate it into the local community.
