Bvlgari Hotel London has appointed Duncan Palmer as its managing director. Palmer, with over 40 years in luxury hospitality, transitions from The Beaumont Mayfair, where he led an extensive renovation project. In his new role, Palmer aims to reinforce Bvlgari’s luxurious guest experience while advancing the hotel’s reputation in Knightsbridge. His career spans roles across prestigious hotels like The Murray in Hong Kong and The Langham London. Palmer expressed enthusiasm about enhancing Bvlgari’s reputation for excellence through Italian heritage and elegant design.
CitizenM has revealed plans for its fifth London location, CitizenM London Olympia, a 146-room hotel with front-of-house on the first floor and three societyM meeting rooms. Scheduled for a 2025 opening, the hotel will showcase CitizenM’s modern style, including XL king beds and rain showers, with interiors crafted by CitizenM’s in-house design team and Amsterdam-based Concrete. This hotel will be part of Olympia’s £1.3bn regeneration. CitizenM’s chief design officer Claudia Abt highlighted the unique design approach, blending Olympia’s historic elements with CitizenM’s signature style.
Bryan Cremey has been appointed as head pastry chef at Cameron House on Loch Lomond. Previously with Raffles London at The OWO, Cremey has also worked at esteemed venues like The Fat Duck and The Mandarin Oriental. Cremey will guide Cameron House’s pastry team through festive updates and seasonal menu additions, emphasising Scottish ingredients. Resort director Michael Lavizani welcomed Cremey, recognizing his expertise as aligning with Cameron House’s dedication to culinary excellence.
Premier Inn has appealed Cornwall Council’s rejection of its proposal for a 90-bedroom hotel in St Ives. After the planning committee’s April decision, Premier Inn lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate, aiming for a local public enquiry. The proposed hotel on Trewidden Road promises 30 full-time roles, 80 construction jobs, and sustainable design meeting a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating. Premier Inn argues that this hotel would offer year-round budget accommodations, boosting local employment and visitor spending in St Ives.
