Adam Dyke has been appointed as the new general manager of The Grand York hotel, bringing over 20 years of luxury hospitality experience. Formerly group operations director at Luxury Family Hotels, Dyke has held leadership roles at Artfarm, Chewton Glen, and others, receiving accolades such as Master Innholder status. Dyke expressed excitement about returning to Yorkshire, aiming to enhance The Grand’s high standards in service. Splendid Hospitality Group’s Andrew Kendrick praised Dyke’s vision and anticipates he will strengthen the hotel’s operational leadership.
Ray Goertz, general manager of The Prince Akatoki London, is set to leave his role in November 2024 after seven years. Under Goertz’s leadership, the hotel transitioned from The Arch London to The Prince Akatoki, achieving a Forbes Five-Star Rating for three consecutive years. He led the hotel’s refurbishment, rebranding, and growth. Goertz expressed pride in the transformation and success of the property and plans to take a break over the holidays before exploring future career opportunities.
Widemouth Manor, a 10-room hotel with ocean views near Bude, Cornwall, is on the market for £2.9m. The property includes various amenities such as the Sunset Restaurant, a rooftop terrace, and wedding facilities, and has undergone significant renovations. Christie and Co director Stephen Champion highlighted its profitability and potential for integration into a group or individual acquisition, with high buyer interest expected. A lease option is also available for £350,000.
Northern Ireland’s Galgorm Collection has acquired the Galgorm Castle Estate in Ballymena and Roe Park Resort in Limavady for £28m, committing an additional £22m for renovations. The investment will enhance Roe Park’s family offerings, add an adult-only spa, and improve golf amenities. Plans for Galgorm Castle include elevating its golf course to become Ireland’s top parkland course. Managing director Colin Johnston emphasised community commitment, aiming to preserve and grow these properties within the Galgorm Collection.
