Specialist business property adviser Christie and Co has appointed Graham Wilkinson to its North and Midlands hotel team. Based in Windermere, Wilkinson brings over 35 years of experience in Cumbria’s tourism and hospitality sector. He expressed enthusiasm for helping hotel, guest house, and B&B owners maximise their business value and assisting buyers in acquiring high-quality assets. David Lee, regional director at Christie and Co, highlighted Wilkinson’s local expertise and dedication as key assets in providing excellent service backed by the firm’s national hotel team.  

Travelodge has confirmed plans for its first Isle of Man hotel in Douglas, following a 30-year lease agreement with local developer Tevir Group. The 80-room property will be part of the Villiers Square development, featuring a restaurant and bar café. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2025, with the opening expected in 2026. Tony O’Brien, Travelodge’s UK development director, called the project a long-awaited addition to the company’s portfolio, offering affordable, quality accommodation for leisure and business travellers. Tevir Group’s managing director, Ciaran Doherty, noted the development’s importance in enhancing Douglas’s hospitality appeal.  

Two Millennium Hotels and Resorts properties in London earned accolades at the 2024 World Luxury Hotel Awards. The Chelsea Harbour Hotel and Spa was named Best Luxury Harbour Hotel in Europe, among other honours, while The Bailey’s Hotel London Kensington was recognized as Best Luxury City Hotel in Europe and Best Luxury Historical Hotel in the UK. General Manager Kim Tian attributed the awards to the dedication of both hotels’ teams in delivering exceptional guest experiences. The awards celebrate innovation and excellence in the global luxury hospitality sector.  

Hotel Indigo Exeter, a boutique property with 104 en suite rooms, has been sold to CDL Hospitality Trusts for £19.4m. Located in central Exeter, the hotel includes three food and beverage outlets, a rooftop bar, and fitness facilities. The acquisition also includes two prominent retail units leased to Mountain Warehouse and Holland and Barrett. James Greenslade of Savills praised the deal as an attractive investment, citing the property’s prime location and strong market fundamentals.
