Hotels in Scotland have thrived in 2024, surpassing the UK’s average growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR) and average daily rate (ADR). Edinburgh has been a standout performer, achieving double-digit pricing growth due to strong international tourism, event hosting, and high occupancy rates of 85-90%. Other regions, such as the Highlands and Glasgow, also benefited from increased international visitors, conferences, and premium attractions like golf resorts. Conversely, Aberdeen lagged due to its reliance on the oil and gas industry. While prospects remain positive with increasing international travel and improved domestic spending, rising operational costs may challenge profitability.

The Savoy has introduced Gallery, a new restaurant serving diverse meals and cocktails inspired by its culinary heritage, with interiors reflecting its historic roots. Additional features include a floral boutique offering bespoke arrangements led by veteran floral designer Belinda Bowles and a scone shop, Scoff, showcasing unique flavor combinations like tiramisu and exotic fruit punch. Executive pastry chef Nicolas Houchet highlighted the fun and creativity behind the revamped scone offerings, aiming to surprise guests with innovative twists on the classic treat.

Dublin-based aparthotel operator Staycity Group has acquired a majority stake in Munich’s Felix Group, adding three properties in Leipzig, Dresden, and Vienna to its portfolio. The Leipzig and Dresden aparthotels will be rebranded as Staycity Aparthotels, while Vienna will open under Staycity’s Wilde brand in 2025. This acquisition aligns with Staycity’s strategy to grow across Europe, particularly in the DACH region. With a development pipeline aiming for 10,000 rooms, Staycity is set to expand further into Amsterdam, London, Cambridge, and Portugal.
