Updown Farmhouse in Deal has launched “The Stables”, four new rooms set in the original 17th-century stable block. These rooms maintain historical charm with high ceilings and wooden structures, complemented by floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading to private terraces and gardens. Ideal for families or friends, some rooms can be interconnected. Founders Ruth Leigh and Oli Brown plan to further develop the site with a swimming pool and spa.

Village Hotel Club has acquired the former Crowne Plaza at Caversham Bridge, Reading, aiming for a multi-million-pound renovation as part of a broader investment program. The revamped site will feature new bedrooms, dining options, a Starbucks, and wellness facilities. The group also plans significant upgrades across its 33 locations, including electric vehicle charging points.

LyLo, part of EVT, is expanding its pod hotel concept to Europe, starting in London, with potential sites in Southwark. LyLo targets budget-conscious travelers with compact, design-led accommodations and shared amenities. The brand already operates in New Zealand and Australia, with plans to bring its affordable and community-focused model to London.

Crerar Hotels reported a profit of £56,973 for the year ending March 2024, a significant turnaround from the previous year’s £2.1m loss. Despite challenges like ferry service disruptions and staffing issues, the group, recently acquired by Blantyre Capital and Fairtree Hotel Investments, saw increased room revenue and higher food and beverage sales.
