Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity London Liverpool Street has secured a mezzanine loan facility from Global Hospitality Investment Group (GHIG) to refinance its development loan from Oaknorth Bank. The facility, provided alongside a leading global investment firm, allows Glenwell Group to refinance after completing the asset in Summer 2024. The 106-key aparthotel features studio and one-bedroom apartments, a food and beverage outlet, and a long-term lease with Staycity. The facility provides flexibility to stabilize the asset and maximize value in the coming years.
Scotland’s hotel market has seen strong growth, with Edinburgh ranking first in the 2025 Colliers UK Hotel Market Index. The city’s 85% occupancy, 10% ADR growth, and 13% RevPAR increase make it a prime investment location. Edinburgh’s tourism, events like the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and consistent international visitors drive year-round demand. Glasgow also saw significant growth, with an 8-9% increase in ADR and RevPAR, driven by corporate demand and event tourism. Inverness, experiencing a 10% RevPAR growth, has gained attention as a rising hotel market, with limited development opportunities and strong demand for boutique and luxury offerings.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at Coventry Building Society Arena has appointed Oliver Shears as head of sales after completing the third phase of a multi-million-pound refurbishment. Shears brings experience from other Hilton properties in London and the Midlands. The refurbishment includes 46 room upgrades, including deluxe family suites and new deluxe queen rooms. The hotel now offers 13 room categories and plans to expand further. Shears aims to grow the hotel’s corporate business and integrate sales with the Arena’s event team to provide a seamless service for clients.
