The West Retford Hotel, a historic 18th-century manor in North Nottinghamshire, has been listed for sale at £4.2m. Set on 4.3 acres of land, it features 63 ensuite guest rooms, two dining areas, and extensive event facilities, including suites for up to 200 people. The hotel has been significantly developed by the Lavin family over the past 20 years, offering a mix of traditional guest suites and modern amenities. David Lee from Christie and Co, managing the sale, highlighted the hotel’s established reputation and diverse income streams, presenting an attractive opportunity for potential buyers.

The Powdermills Hotel in Battle has been acquired by Crafted and will undergo significant refurbishment. As Crafted’s first acquisition, the project aims to enhance the hotel’s sustainability and preserve its historic charm. Plans include reconfiguring public spaces, upgrading hotel rooms, building a wellness centre, and converting an estate building into a craft barn. The £4.5m contract for the first phase of the renovation has been awarded to Trail Group. Crafted’s COO, Joel Williams, emphasized the hotel’s potential to offer guests a relaxing escape with locally sourced food, a variety of activities, and a focus on sustainability.

Malmaison and Hotel du Vin have announced several senior leadership appointments. Stephanie Pinto joins as director of Sales, bringing 30 years of experience, while Annie Stevenson takes on the role of Digital and Marketing director. Jade Watts has been promoted to director of Revenue, Distribution, and Reservations. The team also includes James Marrable, who will oversee property management and compliance, and Phil Hudson-Davies, now director of Learning, Talent and Organisational Development. COO Scott Harper expressed excitement for the brands’ future, noting the appointments reflect a commitment to growth, innovation, and nurturing talent.
