Monkhouse Hill Lake District Cottages brought to market for £2.19m

Monkhouse Hill Lake District Cottages, a luxury self-catering complex, is being offered for sale off a guide price of £2.1m.

Set around a landscaped courtyard, the complex near Caldbeck features nine gold award cottages and four-bed owners’ accommodation in a 17th Century former farmhouse on a five-acre site including paddock, lakes and woodland.

Owners Andrew and Jennifer Collard have instructed Colliers and Hayward Tod to sell the complex, having owned and operated it for 25 years, after deciding to focus on other business interests.

Colliers said there is scope to increase occupancy further across the existing units, as well as opportunities to increase capacity by creating additional units in the grounds or by converting the owners’ accommodation to an additional holiday letting unit.

Robert Smithson, senior surveyor, hotels agency at Colliers International, said: “Andrew and Jennifer have worked tirelessly over the past 25 years to secure Monkhouse Hill Cottages’ hard-earned status as one of the premier, luxury self-catering complexes in the Lake District, leading the way with innovation and offerings to provide the best for all.

“The Lake District continues to be our most productive UK region for hospitality transactions and we’re therefore confident of attracting a strong level of interest in the complex.”
