Boutique hotel to open in Norfolk

A new boutique hotel will be opening in Norfolk in April 2020.

The Harper will open in Langham, near the coastal village of Blakeney, on a site that once was a glass blowing factory.

The 32-bedroom site said it will embrace its history by using bespoke glass features and natural materials to create an “artfully mismatched yet harmonious design”.

The hotel added: “No two bedrooms are the same and, equally, discarded from the plans are the cosy (in other words, small) rooms you find elsewhere – with room categories coming in at Big, Bigger and Biggest.”

The hotel’s restaurant will provide a menu that is “cosmopolitan” with a “distinctive Norfolk twist”, and will feature locally sourced produce with a particular focus on seafood.

The ‘Ivy’ lounge features a wood-burner, arm chairs, nooks and wine fridges, whilst the ‘Den’ is described as the “ultimate games room”, and the ‘Yard’ as an outdoor area for relaxation.

The hotel said: “Whether it’s reading the papers in Ivy’s, tasting Norfolk ales in The Bar, watching rugby in The Den, relaxing in the beautifully designed Yard or being pampered in the spa, there is always somewhere to take in your surroundings in peace.”

It added: “The Harper is the ideal spot for those wanting an idyllic retreat away from the city, in what feels like a true British adventure. North Norfolk is still, in parts, an undiscovered gem and an area with a dearth of laid-back luxury.

“With the introduction of The Harper, there is now the perfect place to stay whilst exploring this beautiful part of the world.”

Sam Cutmore-Scott, founder of the hotel, said: “Here, where land meets sea, so shall quality meet informality – and we think they’ll get on famously.”
