Travelodge opens two new hotels in London

Travelodge has opened two new hotels in London, boosting its portfolio of hotels in the capital to 77.

The two hotels, which are located in Beckton and Dagenham, represent an investment of £22m by third party investors and have created a combined 55 new jobs.

London Beckton Travelodge, a 113-room hotel is the group’s first hotel in Beckton. It represents a multi-million investment by the landlord, SEGRO, and has created 35 new jobs.

Travelodge said the new hotel is a “key part” of the recently completed SEGRO Park Newham, a former landfill site that has not been utilised for over 40 years.

London Dagenham East Travelodge is the group’s second hotel to open in Dagenham within 12 months. It represents an investment of £7m by the landlord and has been built in partnership with Barking and Dagenham Council and Be First, the council’s regeneration organisation.

With these two new hotel openings, Travelodge has opened 10 hotels in London in the last three years and created 320 new jobs. This includes the company’s new build 395-room flagship hotel, London City Travelodge Plus hotel. These 10 hotel openings represent an investment of approximately £200m by third party investors.

Travelodge now operates 77 hotels in London which includes 39 properties with an on-site restaurant called The Bar Café and 27 hotels that offer the company’s premium SuperRooms.

The hotel brand said London remains a “key growth area” for the company, and is expecting to open at least 20 more hotels in the capital over the next five years.

Tony O’Brien, Travelodge UK development director, said: “As one of London’s largest hotel brands, we are delighted to open two hotels in East London this week and boost our portfolio to 77 hotels across the capital.

“During the last three years we have been focused on offering more choice and great value to customers visiting London by extending our hotel network across all corners of the capital, introducing our premium economy concept, SuperRooms and our budget chic, Travelodge Plus hotels.”
