Travelodge launches UK-wide recruitment drive

Travelodge has announced the launch of a national search to fill 4,000 housekeeping roles throughout 2020.

The hotel brand said that 150 housekeeping positions need to be filled immediately, while further roles will arise through forthcoming Travelodge openings, additional summer cover, and other opportunities available through the brand’s 573 UK sites.

The vast majority of roles will be permanent, with flexible working hours “designed around the school run”.

Teaching and coaching will be provided to individuals to equip them with necessary job skills, and new employees will also be provided with a “buddy” to help through the initial stages of employment.

The hotel brand also said that new starters will be eligible for the company’s in-house management programme, Aspire, which offers comprehensive training on hotel management.

Travelodge said it will be looking for “passionate individuals who have a desire to deliver great customer service and enjoy being part of a team”.

Rebecca Baker, director of talent and people proposition at Travelodge, said: “Collectively our housekeeping teams spend over a million hours a year making up the luxurious king-size Travelodge Dreamer bed for our 18 million plus customers that stay at our 573 UK hotels throughout the year.

“This is no easy task, so we are looking for reinforcement and kick starting our Housekeeping Heroes search today to help fill the 4,000 positions that will come available throughout the year.”

She added: “We have made it our mission to help unemployed parents return to work in the hospitality sector and working in housekeeping is a great route in.

“At Travelodge we have a strong established workforce of working parents, offering jobs close to home, flexible hours that can work around the school run, benefits that suit families and a career path into management specifically for mums and dads.”
