Burgh Island Hotel to reopen on 7 July

Burgh Island Hotel has announced the reopening of its site on 7 July, in line with government guidelines.

Situated on its very own private tidal island on the Devon coast, the hotel compromises 25-bedrooms and suites.

To ensure the safety of guests, visitors and staff, the hotel is implementing strict health and safety procedures that will minimise risk of contamination without compromising the hotel’s ability to still deliver the highest standards of service and experience.

The hotel now has a bookings-only policy, including pre-arrival questionnaires and provides social distancing guidance throughout the hotel and the island.

The hotel’s three food and beverage outlets have also undergone extensive changes to comply with new health and safety standards.

Across ‘The Grand Ballroom’ and the seafood restaurant, ‘The Nettlefold’, dining hours will be extended to ensure that everyone can enjoy a luxury dining experience while social distancing is enforced.

The hotel said the “major” investment in health and safety is in addition to the refurbishment of staff accommodation.

As well as allowing staff to stay on the island and in the hotel during lockdown, management have also converted garages into a staff leisure area.

Giles Fuchs, owner of Burgh Island Hotel, said: “I’m delighted to be able to announce that Burgh Island Hotel will be opening on 7 July .

“Given its location the hotel is an ideal spot for a staycation, which is how most people will enjoy their holidays this year. Guests will be able to enjoy excellent dining with food sourced locally and sustainably, luxury spa services, as well as a full range of outdoor activities.”

He added: “With safety an absolute priority, we have implemented health and safety measures across the hotel and the grounds, to ensure the wellbeing of both our staff and guests, without compromising the unique, luxury experience the hotel provides.”
