Kids ‘take over’ QHotels to launch charity partnership with NSPCC

QHotels has marked the launch of a three-year partnership with the NSPCC by inviting children to ‘take over’ one of its hotels, as it looks to raise £300,000 for the charity.

The group of youngsters were invited to help run QHotels’ Oulton Hall near Leeds for the day, taking on tasks such as greeting guests at reception, making beds and helping to work in the kitchen.

The hotel take over was the first in a series of initiatives to bring guests and employees together to support the charity.

Over the next three years, each of the company’s 26 hotels across the UK will be hosting a number of fundraising events from family activities to sporting challenges. The first of these will be the ‘Big Board Game’, featuring board game events in hotel gardens and games rooms for guests.

Michael Purtill, managing director at QHotels, said: “The work that the NSPCC does is so incredibly important and to be able to give our guests and employees the opportunity to be part of such a significant cause is wonderful.

“To celebrate the start of our inspiring partnership, we wanted to embrace the playful nature of childhood, and what better way to do that than by letting children take over one of our hotels.”

QHotels is also giving customers the chance to support the campaign, with the option to make a donation to the NSPCC with every online booking.

Nigel Spencer, acting director of fundraising at NSPCC, said: “I am delighted that QHotels has joined our fight for every childhood. This partnership will play a key role in keeping children safe and we are very excited to start working with QHotels’ employees and guests.”
