Hand Picked Hotels, has named New Hall Hotel & Spa as its Hotel of the Year in recognition of its “outstanding performance throughout 2017”.

At more than 800-years-old, the historic country house hotel located in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, was selected from the Hand Picked portfolio of 20 hotels located across the UK and the Channel Islands.

The four red-AA-star country house hotel which has 60 bedrooms, a spa and health club and a two AA rosette restaurant situated on 26-acres of land was praised for “solid financial performance, ongoing positive feedback” and “consistently high quality dining experience.”

The accolade was presented to New Hall’s general manager Jonathan Squire during the annual awards ceremony held this year at Hand Picked’s Buxted Park Hotel in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.

Julia Hands, chairman and CEO of Hand Picked Hotels, said: “I am delighted for the team at New Hall following a year of exceptional results across all aspects of hotel operations from guest satisfaction to employee engagement.”

“The hotel has also been meticulously maintained by the team to ensure the 13th Century manor house and grounds are beautifully presented and New Hall has achieved the top score across the portfolio for employee retention and satisfaction, an area which is incredibly important.”

Squire, on accepting the award added: “On behalf of everyone at New Hall Hotel, I am thrilled to receive this award in recognition of all the hard work and dedication of the team.”
