Alexandra Penn, head of sales at Event Exeter, University of Exeter, has been appointed as chairman for the Exeter and Heart of Devon Hotels and Restaurants Association.

She is a commercial manager with over 15 years’ experience in the industry, and has been with Event Exeter since 2014. Penn brings with her a wealth of knowledge and passion for the hospitality industry

Penn said: “I am delighted to have been voted as chair of the committee, and very much look forward to the year ahead. I am keen to build on the success of the association, working with existing members, identifying new ones, and to help leverage new partnerships to support the growing market here in the county.

“It’s going to be a pleasure to work with a group of such highly experienced and innovative hoteliers and restaurateurs from the region as the Associations continues its work promoting our destination county and its charming member hotels and restaurants.”

Derek, who has been on the Association Board since the 1970s, said: “We welcome Alexandra to her new position as chair and very much look forward to another successful year for the Association and the hospitality industry in Devon.

“We recently reported that members are investing millions into the facilities we offer so this is a pivotal time for the Association as it continues to promote both Devon as a region and the individual members as destinations in their own right.”
