The Adria reopens following curated refurb

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Luxury Victorian townhouse hotel, The Adria in South Kensington, has reopened following a curated renovation.

Each of its 24 suites, rooms and lounges have been “meticulously” restored, with the aim of combining contemporary design with the “timeless” 19th Century residential townhouse.

The interiors have been designed by hospitality interior consultants Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), with many of the rooms boasting 16ft ceiling heights, revealing “intricate, original cornicing detail”.

The rooms are also designed to integrate together from a lounge replete with a martini trolley to a games room fit for a spot of afternoon backgammon. The property also features a light breakfast room and secluded winter garden.

The Adria said a team of personal butlers are also on hand to cater for guests’ “every need”.

Erica Pritchard, senior associate at HBA Designs, said: “We worked to capitalise on the building’s graceful Victorian proportions, layering a combination of tactile fabrics and timeless finishes.

“The intent was to retain the hotels prevalent British charm injecting a contemporary vernacular through carefully curated pieces of custom lighting, up cycling existing furniture through soft upholstery whilst focusing on the refinement of crafted details. The spaces have all been carefully constructed and furnished with a loving nod to the buildings English heritage.”

GM, Gary Redmond, added: “The renovation represents the beginning of a new chapter for The Adria. We wanted to retain our quintessential British charm whilst offering our exclusive guests a truly exceptional 5-star experience with discretion at our heart.

“Perfect for those seeking a luxury city-staycation and international visitors to the city, we are ready to pamper and cater to the needs of each guest, showing them the very best of British elegance and indulgence.”
