Construction work has begun on a new Premier Inn hotel at the Bridgwater Gateway business park in Somerset, which will be completed by summer 2019.

It will be the second Premier Inn at Bridgwater Gateway and according to the budget hotel brand, will create around 32 year-round jobs. Carter Lauren Construction, lead contractor for the three-story 100-bedroom hotel, has commenced groundworks on a prime road frontage plot near the entrance to the 100-acre site, beside Junction 24 of the M5.

Phil Wade, development manager for Bridgwater Gateway, said: “It is less than a year since groundworks began on the infrastructure at Bridgwater Gateway, and now machinery is in action on site again for the groundworks for a new Premier Inn. This work vividly illustrates the fast-track delivery of cutting-edge new commercial buildings that will happening at Bridgwater Gateway.”

Neil Carter, managing director of Cardiff-based Carter Lauren Construction, added: “Fast-track delivery is a speciality of Carter Lauren construction, and we’re looking forward to ensuring fast-track delivery of a 100-bedroom Premier Inn hotel at Bridgwater Gateway, with a construction period of 38 weeks.”
