Angelina Chua has been appointed as general manager at Sopwell House Hotel and Spa in St Albans, one of the UK’s most prestigious country house estates.
Having commenced her career in hospitality over 20 years ago, Chua’s experience encompasses roles in sales and event management, food and beverage and hotel operations, spanning locations such the Middle East, Asia and USA.
Prior to joining Sopwell House, Chua was at the helm of Stapleford Park Hotel and Sporting Estate, where she was responsible for the strategic commercial and operational direction of the hotel, spa and country club for six years.
She also brings with her a wealth of knowledge and international experience having been director of operations at Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel and Country Club; director of food and beverage at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel; director of restaurants at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club in Hawaii; restaurant manager at The Ritz-Carlton in Doha, Qatar; and corporate sales and event manager at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Chua said: “I am very excited to join Sopwell House Hotel and Spa at such a momentous time for the hotel. Our 16 Mews Suites are completed, the conference rooms have been refreshed and our new spa will be launching in spring 2019.
