Chris Webb MP elected chair of APPG for hospitality and tourism

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) has elected Chris Webb, Labour MP for Blackpool South, as its chair yesterday (5 September) at a meeting in Westminster

Damian Hinds, Conservative MP for East Hampshire, Caroline Voaden, Liberal Democrat MP for South Devon, and Daniel Aldridge, Labour MP for Weston-super-Mare, were also elected as vice-chairs.

The long-standing group will champion two critical sectors to the UK economy – hospitality and tourism – which employ more than 3.5 million people and generate more than £140bn in revenue annually.

The APPG acts as a vehicle for backbench Parliamentarians, from both the Houses of Commons and Lords, to influence the government’s policy making on the key issues to hospitality and tourism.

Webb said: “I’m delighted to be elected the chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Hospitality and Tourism, sectors which are close to my heart and my constituency of Blackpool South.

“They are the beating heart of coastal towns like Blackpool, supporting thousands of jobs, bringing in millions in revenue and helping to regenerate communities. The cross-party support the group has reinforces this positive impact and demonstrates the commitment to the sector from across Parliament.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to working with the APPG to champion causes critical to hospitality and tourism, and being one their loudest advocates in Parliament.”
