General manager Stuart Bowery has announced two senior appointments within the JW Marriott Grosvenor House executive committee.

The news comes following the sale of the five-star hotel to Katara Hospitality, Qatar Investment Authority’s hotel unit, for an undisclosed sum.

With over 20 years of experience in hospitality, including hotel management experience in luxury hotels in North America and Western Europe, Hendrik Engel has joined Grosvenor House as hotel manager from his previous role at Biltmore in Los Angeles.

Engel started his career at the Dorchester Hotel followed by Claridges and the May Fair Hotel, before spending time with Kempinski at the Adlon, Berlin and Jumeirah hotels and residences.

October 2018 has also saw the return of hotelier Vicki Richards to Grosvenor House as director of sales and marketing. Joining from Four Seasons, Richards started her career in hospitality at London Hilton on Park Lane followed by director of sales at The Dorchester. She first joined Marriott in 2001 and will return to Marriott Grosvenor House to build on the hotel’s repositioning efforts following a four-year investment programme.

Bowery said: “We wish both Hendrik Engel and Vicki Richards continued success in the next phase of their accomplished careers here at JW Marriott Grosvenor House.”
