The Manchester Hoteliers Association (MHA) has announced the winners of its annual awards, with over £45,000 also being raised for industry charity Hospitality Action

The event, which took place at the Palace Hotel and saw 600 guests attend the black tie event, aims to celebrate hotel staff in the Manchester hotel industry.

The winners of the event were:

  • Employee of the Year, New Star of the Year – Nicola Fletcher, reservations co-ordinator, Bolton Whites Hotel
  • Employee of the Year, Front of House – Ali Kirsan, business class lounge manager, Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport
  • Employee of the Year, Back of House – Hassen Lakhel, maintenance supervisor, Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert
  • Employee of the Year, Green Passion – April McCaig, business centre manager, Palace Hotel
  • Employee of the Year, Outstanding Personal Contribution – Brett Pistorius, head pastry chef, Lowry Hotel
  • Howard Raynor Lifetime Achiever Award – Paul Costello, concierge, Mercure Manchester Piccadilly (winner); Sue Hough, executive head housekeeper, MacDonald Hotel & Spa (highly commended)

Tracy Waddacor, managing director at World Class Services and head judge on the panel, said: “Without doubt the Manchester hospitality scene is thriving and we can certainly see from the calibre of individuals in the final that we have the crème de la crème in the industry.

“Choosing the winners from an incredibly talented and passionate group was extremely tough but we are delighted to recognise them with these awards.”
