The Ramside Hall Hotel near Durham is set to open what it claims to be the ‘largest suite in the North East’ of England in April, part of the hotels new accommodation wing.

The suite – which measures 100 square meters – will feature windows offering a panoramic view of the surrounding area, a large dining and bedroom area, seven foot wide bed, free-standing copper bath, dressing room and an additional bathroom.

The development is just part of the hotel’s £16m expansion, which will feature 47 premier rooms offering both double and twin bedrooms all containing a walk-in shower, free-standing baths and Hypnos beds.

The new wing will also feature two family rooms and two junior suites.

John Adamson, owner of the hotel, said that it will be something “very special for the North East.” He said: “We have done everything possible to ensure our guests have a memorable and comfortable stay in luxurious surroundings.”

The development also includes the creation of a second championship golf course which opened last year, and the opening of a spa featuring a 25m pool, gym, spa garden and a variety of steam rooms, saunas and a mud chamber.
