Three teenager have been arrested on susipicion of arson following a fire at a hotel in Corby, Northamptonshire over the weekend.

More than 50 firefighters, eight pumps and some specialist vehicles were deployed to the Hampton by Hilton in Princewood Road at 3:50pm on Saturday, 30 January. Police also attended the scene.

Northamptonshire Police said that fire crews worked to put out the fire and to ventilate heavy smoke issuing from the building, from which 120 hotel guests and staff were evacuated when the fire alarm went off. Nobody is believed to have been injured.

It is thought the fire spread from the bin or laundry area to the rear of the hotel.

Area manager David Harding, of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “This was a fire that could have had even more serious consequences.

“The fire crews did an excellent job in containing and putting out the fire and in thoroughly searching the building to ensure all the guests and staff had safely evacuated. I would like to acknowledge the great support provided by our police and ambulance colleagues throughout the incident.”

Two boys and one girl have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
