Langdale Chase on market for ‘substantial offers’

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

The 29-bedroom Langdale Chase hotel on Lake Windermere in the Lake District has been put on the market, with a ‘substantial offer’ being sought.

Thomas Noblett, managing director, said that after more than 23 years at the hotel, he and his fellow directors have decided it is time retire and sell the property.

Originally built in 1895, the grade II-listed country house hotel is set in six acres of landscaped grounds on the shores of Lake Windermere. The hotel, which is a popular wedding and function venue, developed a £1m 24-bedroom staff accommodation block last year.

The property also features a lake house providing eight bedrooms, a boat house and two jetty’s.

Estate agency JLL, which is handling the sale, said there is a 15-bedroom former staff house which could be converted to provide further guest accommodation, a spa or separate function facility subject to planning approvals.

Gavin Wright, director at JLL’s hotels and hospitality group, said: “There is enormous potential to capitalise on the existing reputation of the hotel though expansion and marketing.

“The Langdale Chase is undoubtedly one of the finest locations in the Lake District and we anticipate strong interest in this most beautiful and popular parts of the UK.”
