In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

London-based Glh Hotels has announced the launch of ‘Choose Your Own Room’, a new booking service which allows guests to choose the exact room they want to stay in.

Believed to be the first of its kind in the world, the service will have features including; the ability to view, compare and book a specific room; a filter system; guest reviews for specific rooms; and a host to answer all questions during the booking process.

Mike DeNoma, CEO of Glh, said: “We believe this is another step towards hotel owners regaining control of their distribution in an advantaged way.

Airbnb – and the sharing economy players – are not just outflanking the traditional hotel industry they are outclassing it too, by giving customers the ability to choose and configure the exact stay they want – combined with the real human connection they make between host and stayer.

“We believe in doing the same in hotels – giving our guests unique control and convenience, and personal hospitality right from the moment of booking.”

Choose Your own Room will be launched in all 14 hotels in the group’s central London portfolio, across its Amba, Guoman, Every and Thistle brands, by August 2016.
