One of the UK’s leading food sector authorities will address a major conference about the responsibilities of food manufacturers in the wake of the horse meat scandal.
Hosted by Food Cheshire, the ‘Future of Food’ event will see Dr Corrinna Hawkes, among others, lecture delegates from across the hospitality sector, with the aim of addressing the vital issues facing producers, suppliers and retailers.
Hawkes will also address the Cheshire conference on the changes required in the industry over the next ten years to maintain public health and, in light of the on-going horse meat scandal, regain public confidence.
Food Cheshire chairman David Pickering said: “Those attending the conference will come away with a clear vision of the challenges facing the industry, how they can help meet those challenges and capitalising on the opportunities that these bring.
“Dr Corrinna Hawkes is the UK’s leading authority on food and its relationship with non-communicable diseases, the health of a nation and the responsibilities of food manufacturers.
“Her opinion is sought be key decision-makers in our industry and she is helping to shape food policy with her cutting-edge work.
“No business [in the industry] can afford to miss hearing her views on where food will be heading over the next five to 10 years.”
