A fire has broken at a disused hotel on Miller road in Ayr, Scotland.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was alerted at 3:32am today (Monday 1 July) to reports of a fire at the vacant building.
A statement by SFRS read: “Operations control mobilised four fire appliances to the scene and firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. There are no reported casualties. Crews currently remain in attendance as they work to make the area safe.”
It comes as the second fire to break out at a hotel in Ayr in two weeks, after a fire tore through the Belleisle House hotel earlier in June.
Firefighters were called to the scene of the property located within the grounds of the Belleisle Golf Course at around 3:20pm on Friday (14 June). Five fire crews were sent to the scene of the hotel which had been closed for refurbishment.
A Facebook message by South Ayrshire Council Sport and Leisure read: “Belleisle House Hotel is on fire, Emergency Services are in attendance. In the interest of public safety we advise that people stay away from the area until a further update can be issued.”
Ayr MP Bill Grant said at the time: “It’s a sad day for the town of Ayr and a sad end to the saga that was Belleisle Hotel. It was blessed with so much optimism just a few years ago and today we see it turned to rubble by the ravages of fire.”
