Chefs asked to provide first kitchen memory

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Knorr Bouillon has asked chefs and industry journalists to provide their earliest kitchen memories as part of its 175th anniversary celebrations.

From the unthinkable to the unprintable, Knorr has already received some outstanding entries.

“Some of the stories have made us gasp in horror or laugh out loud at the thought these things actually happen in the kitchen,” said Knorr Bouillon category manager Charlotta Oldham.

“Nick Vadis, executive chef at Compass Group UK & Ireland, spilled the beans on his time in the Royal Navy, but you’ll have to take a look at our website to see what he said. Steve Munkley, executive chef at The Royal Garden Hotel, also shared a story that had the team laughing uncontrollably.

“I’d love to know if anyone can beat walking into a kitchen and seeing a porter mopping the floor with a pot of 20-litre consommé!

“If you’ve got a great story, please share it with us and in return we’ll send the first 175 entries a free pack of Knorr Vegetable Paste Bouillon. It only takes a couple of minutes.”
