Peter Kay, a presenter of Hospitality Action’s alcohol and drug awareness seminars (previously known as The Ark Foundation) has died aged 52.

He was also one of the founders of the Sporting Chance Clinic that helps professional sports stars with drink, drug and gambling problems. He worked as a mentor to footballers Tony Adams, Paul Gascoigne and Paul Merson, as well as speaking to hospitality students in catering colleges across the UK.

Chief executive of Hospitality Action Penny Moore said: “We are all shocked by the announcement of Peter’s passing. He was an amazing presenter and so passionate in his work to help young people. He will be greatly missed by the charity and those he knew in the hospitality industry.”

The Professional Footballers’ Association’s chief executive Gordon Taylor added: “As one of the founders of the Sporting Chance clinic he has helped countless numbers of our members deal with personal problems and get their lives back on track.”
