Edinburgh-based Apex Hotels has announced the appointment of Fiona Young as its new head of spa.

Young joins the business from her previous role at Crieff Hydro Hotel and Resort, and will lead the planned expansion of Yu Spa.

The expansion starts with its launch at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in Edinburgh in the coming weeks.

Young will also aid the revamp of the menu of treatments on offer, including three new day-spa packages.

Yu Spa at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel will boast three treatment rooms, as well as a fully-equipped gym, thermal spa and pool.

Young said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to join the business at such an exciting time, as we prepare to take the Yu Spa brand into Edinburgh.

“Yu Spa is so well-established in Dundee, providing an absolutely first-class experience to hotel guests as well as day spa-goers. We’re looking to replicate that in the Scottish capital, by providing a relaxing oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city – somewhere people can escape and take time for themselves to relax and unwind.”

She added: “As well as developing new treatment menus and packages in preparation for the launch at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in October, there are exciting plans ahead for the Yu Spa brand across the portfolio that I cannot wait to bring to life with the rest of the team.”

Paul Mooney, group operations manager, said: “It goes without saying that we’re delighted to have Fiona on the team. Her experience in the spa and wellbeing industry really speaks for itself and, as the development of Yu Spa becomes more of a focus across the portfolio, we’re confident she’ll ensure a fantastic offering for our guests.”
