RBH expands business development team as it seeks to drive growth

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

RBH has announced the expansion of its business development team, as it continues to pursue its ambition to become “Europe’s leading independent hotel management company”.

The business has experienced a period of growth thanks to the recent addition of QHotels to its portfolio, among other properties.

In a bid to bolster its 70-strong portfolio of branded and independent hotels, the group has appointed a new director of business development and a director of hotel transitions.

Andrew Secker, who joined RBH in 2014 as an area director of sales, takes on the former, whilst Mark Dempsie – who previously headed up the business’s property team – steps into the latter role.

Both will support Andrew Robb, RBH’s chief business development officer in growing the number of hotels operated under management contract.

Andrew Secker, RBH’s new director of business development, said: “My operational experience across multiple hotel brands and markets, together with my involvement in a number of new openings during my time with RBH, stands me in good stead as I step into this exciting new role.

“My main focus will be on developing relationships with prospective and existing owners to ensure RBH either becomes, or remains, their hotel management company of choice. Thankfully our track record is strong and our team of hotel specialists is among the industry’s best, and I can’t wait to get started on building new partnerships for RBH.”

Dempsie added that he was “thrilled to be taking on this brand new role” and said the key to achieving its growth ambitions is “ensuring that we successfully deliver key projects for our hotel owners”.

Robb, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome two exceptionally experienced individuals to my team in Mark and Andrew. The strength and depth in our team is much improved, giving us a great platform to drive continued growth.

“I am also very proud to see another two senior roles in RBH filled by rising stars within our business, demonstrating the success of our people-focused approach. At the moment our pipeline of hotel developments and rebrands is as strong as it has ever been, and we want this trend to continue into the future – I’m confident our newly expanded business development team can deliver on this.”
